Compared to other Jobset abilities, there is no way that the White Mage isn't important. The White Mage is given all healing and protective A-Abilities that heal HP, revive and increase defense and resistance. Getting the foundation of a white mage for one unit may be better than having a unit that only specializes on fighting or damage magic, because if you can equip White Magic as the second A-Ability equipped - it will greatly aid you in no-item engagements.
