Reaction Commands

In Kingdom Hearts II there is a new feature, known as reaction commands. Reaction Commands are usually moves triggered by different moves or anything that happens in the game. The Most Common Reaction Command is 'Talk' and 'Open.' The Talk command is triggered by standing to someone who can be spoken to. The Open Command can be triggered by standing near a chest. All Reaction Commands can be used by pressing on the [TRIANGLE] button on your PS2 Dualshock controller. However some reaction commands are small like Talk and Open, there are advanced reaction commands that can be used when in a standard regular field battle and a Boss Battle. Each reaction command is different to each battle, some reappear more than once, however some appear when battling with a certain party member, or a certain enemy. For example if you fought a Nobody, a Dusk Species to be precise, using Sora, you can use a reaction command known as 'Reversaal.' Reversal is a reaction command that uses Sora or Roxas to move around the Dusk, confusing the Dusk itself. Some minor reaction commands can be used, with lets say the party member Riku.

Riku & Sora Reaction Commands : Dark Aura, Dark Shield

Reaction commands don't have to be limited to just special moves, sometimes they are the only way to win or gain advantages during some boss battles. There are other types of reaction commands, known as successive reactions. In total there are three types of reaction commands. They are listed below and an example of each.

Three Reaction Commands Catergories
1. Non-Battle Reactions (Talk, Open)
2. Battle Reactions (Reversal, Lance Tug)
3. Successive Reactions (Auron & Sora's Reactions)

Now, these three types of reaction commands can appear any time. albeit random or triggered. The Non-Battle Reactions and Battle Reactions are triggered using the the [TRIANGLE] button, as are all reaction commands, Successive Reactions are usually triggered using special party members. For example, let's look at Auron and Sora.

Bushido -> Banishing Blade <-> Shooting Star -> Spiral

Using reaction commands correctly is the key to victory in Kingdom Hearts II. Successive reaction commands are also known as 'Limits' which can be dicussed in the corresponding page.
